BNBU students won the second prize in the fourth edition of “My Hong Kong Story” English short video competition, and the University brought home the Outstanding Organisation Award. The competition was held by the Commissioner's Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and received 110 submissions.
The competition this time was themed “The GBA Story Through My Lens” and explored economic ties across the Greater Bay Area, highlighting the region's diverse ethnic communities, the entrepreneurial journeys of Hong Kong youth, and innovative projects taking shape there. Ten videos were chosen as winners, sparking strong public engagement with over 4 million views and more than 40,000 likes and comments on social media.
The BNBU student team was composed of Chen Pinhan, Ji Zixuan, Li Furui, Zhu Xuanze, and Lin Qingbao, under the instruction of Dr Vincent Lam. Their award-winning work, From Hong Kong to Qianhai: Forward, Seaward, Futureward, tells the story of a young Hong Kong student who leaves university to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams in the Greater Bay Area.

Chen explained that the work was inspired by Qianhai’s policies to attract Hong Kong entrepreneurs, its cityscape details mirroring Hong Kong, and the presence of innovation platforms established by Hong Kong universities in the area.
“All of this motivated us to tell the story through the lens,” she said, adding that this creative project had also given them a strong sense that the development of the Greater Bay Area is a two-way process and one of close connection.
