On 10 March 2026, a delegation from the University of Salamanca visited Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) to explore opportunities for academic collaboration. The delegation was led by its Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Cooperation Raúl Sánchez Prieto.

The delegation was received by BNBU Vice President (Research and Development) Pan Jianxin, and BNBU Associate Vice President (Global Engagement) Prof Huang Yu, along with other representatives.

During the meeting, both sides introduced their institutional profiles and internationalisation strategies. They noted that the two universities share compatible educational philosophies and complementary strengths, providing a solid foundation for future cooperation.
Discussions focused on several potential areas of collaboration, including joint doctoral training programmes, student exchange and research partnerships. Both sides explored the possibility of launching a pilot joint PhD programme and expressed interest in signing a university-level memorandum of understanding to further expand cooperation.
Several disciplines were identified as potential priority areas for collaboration, including computer science, mathematics, statistics, management and communication studies.
During the visit, the delegation also toured the BNBU campus to learn more about the University’s culture, development and campus environment.
Founded in 1218, the University of Salamanca is the oldest university in Spain and is internationally renowned for its teaching and research in Spanish language and literature.
