Dear fellow graduates, faculty members, family, and friends,
Good afternoon, my name is Chen Jiayi, a final-year student, majoring in computer science and technology. It is my great honour to stand here today and celebrate with the Class of 2026.
Looking back on my freshman year, I still remember stepping into BNBU, carrying nothing more than a curiosity about programming. Over the past four years, we have gone through countless weekly labs, challenging exams, and exhausting projects. We’ve all experienced those late nights debugging faulty code and untangling complex algorithms, as well as the frustration of failed experiments and glacial progress. Yet, those tough, persistent days are exactly what forged us. Today, after years of hard work and unforgettable memories, we finally stand here, ready to graduate. As I delved deeper into computer science, I gradually developed a genuine passion for my major and greater confidence in what lies ahead.
BNBU’s liberal arts education has helped us grow academically, intellectually, and personally. Academic lectures and competitions have equipped us with cutting-edge knowledge and valuable practical experience, while diverse campus activities, from the Colour Run to volunteer programmes, have enriched our lives and shaped us into more well-rounded individuals. Thanks to the University's open and inclusive curriculum, I had the opportunity to explore interdisciplinary studies. Inspired by this enriching academic atmosphere, I made up my mind to step out of my comfort zone. By pursuing a minor in psychology, I was able to break through the boundaries of my field, giving me a much broader perspective on the world.
Life is a grand journey filled with meaningful encounters. I am deeply grateful for my friends. The most precious part of college life has been the friendships we built together. I will always cherish the late-night discussions in the computer lab and every brainstorming session we shared. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all the professors. You have always explained complex concepts with patience and enthusiasm, and offered timely guidance whenever I felt confused about my studies or future. Finally, my deepest appreciation goes to my family. Your unwavering support and constant encouragement have given me the courage to keep moving forward.
Fellow members of the Class of 2026, graduation is not an ending, but the beginning of a new chapter. May we carry forward what we have learned over these four years, and step into the future with confidence and calmness. Wish you all the best in your future endeavors. And finally, happy graduation!
