On 28 August 2026, Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) held its 2026 postgraduate inauguration ceremony. Nearly 1,900 new students gathered on campus to jointly embark on a new academic chapter.
At the ceremony, Party Secretary of the University Party Committee and Vice President (Administration) Prof Mao Yaqing delivered a speech in which he shared four expectations with all postgraduate students: to cherish time, to maintain vitality, to face academic pressures and research challenges with vigour; to solidify their academic foundation; and to act with diligence.
Vice President (Research and Development) Prof Pan Jianxin introduced BNBU's educational features and recent developments. He encouraged students to delve deep into their majors while being interdisciplinary and critical, and to be rooted locally while embracing a global future.
Associate Vice President (Global Engagement) and Dean of the Graduate School Prof Huang Yu shared with the students the university's resources, as well as its two major international academic platforms: the Boston Center and the London Center, encouraging them to make full use of them and broaden their global perspectives.
Executive Dean of the Graduate School Prof Shi Jianqing expressed his hope that students would grow professionally under the guidance of their tutors and actively identify problems.
Associate Dean of the Graduate School Prof Guo Zhongshi highlighted the university's strong faculty and encouraged everyone to communicate with their supervisors.
This year's new postgraduates come from 11 taught postgraduate programmes, six research postgraduate programmes and PhD programmes. Following the main ceremony, other sessions were held for students and faculty to meet.
