On 23 and 24 August 2026, Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) welcomed around 2,600 new undergraduate students from around the world for the Class of 2030.
This year’s incoming class represents a global community, with students from nearly 20 countries, including Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Canada, the United States, Australia, and Singapore. They are joined by peers from across the Chinese mainland, spanning its 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
International student admissions grew strongly this year, with the number of valid applications doubling from last year and the number of admitted students increasing by more than 260%. New admission pathways, including the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) and a direct admission scheme for Macao students, were introduced for the first time, further enriching the diversity of the BNBU community.

A series of orientation activities will help new students settle into campus life. Through the Mentor Caring Programme (MCP), faculty members and senior student mentors will provide guidance and support in both academic and daily life. The English Enhancement Programme (EEP) will also help students prepare for BNBU’s English-medium learning environment.
New students will have opportunities to meet faculty members, explore campus facilities, discover interest clubs, and take part in orientation activities.
On the evening of the 24th, more than 200 parents gathered on campus for the High Table Dinner, bridging the gap between home and university. BNBU President Prof Chen Zhi delivered a keynote on the university’s educational philosophy in the face of AI challenges. Party Secretary of the University Party Committee and Vice President (Administration) Prof Mao Yaqing reaffirmed the value of whole-person development, calling on families and the university to support students’ growth.
