2026年6月20日与21日，在北师香港浸会大学（BNBU）第十八届毕业典礼暨荣誉院士颁授典礼上，校长陈致教授在致辞中寄语毕业生，在风云变幻的时代，应守住内心的热爱，活成坚定且独一无二的自己。“真正能让我们行稳致远的，从来不是盲目追随潮流，而是心底执着的热爱、绝不妥协的底线与始终坚守的理想。”他期盼同学们未来不论作何选择，都能保有执着所爱、反复打磨、越挫越勇的底气。致辞视频和全文如下：
亲爱的同学们，老师们，各位家长、来宾：
大家好！
看着台下这一张张熟悉的面孔，我不禁想起四年前的你们。那时的你们，怀着期待与忐忑的心情走进校园；而今天，你们即将带着知识、自信、梦想与责任，走向更加广阔的世界。
首先，请允许我代表学校，向全体2026届毕业生表示最热烈的祝贺！也向一路默默陪伴、悉心呵护你们成长的父母，倾心教导的老师，以及所有关心支持你们的朋友们，致以最诚挚的感谢！
临别之际，我想和大家分享几段心里话。
一、毕业不是终点，是节点，也是新的起点
有人以为大学毕业是学业的圆满落幕，我却并不这么认为。四年大学时光，你们积累了知识、掌握了方法，学会了相处，也学会了直面挫折。但走出校门后，你会遇见课堂上从未接触过的难题，面临许多没有标准答案的人生选择。
请记住，这些未知与不确定，从来不是失败的预兆，而是成长的开端。大学教给你们的，从不是世间所有问题的现成答案，而是面对困境的勇气与解决问题的能力。当你迈出校园的那一刻，人生真正的考验才正式开始。相信经过四年校园淬炼的你们，一定能步履从容，在属于自己的人生长卷上，书写精彩篇章。
二、在不确定的时代，做确定的自己
我们正身处一个日新月异的时代。人工智能不断迭代，数字浪潮重塑各行各业，行业格局与职业赛道都在持续更迭。面对快速变化的环境，产生迷茫与困惑都是人之常情。我想问问大家：当外界声音纷繁喧嚣，当潮流方向反复变换，你是否依旧能守住本心，坚持心中热爱与前行的方向？
算法可以推送热点，却无法定义你的人生；技术能够提升效率，却不能替代内心的选择。真正能让我们行稳致远的，从来不是盲目追随潮流，而是心底执着的热爱、绝不妥协的底线与始终坚守的理想。
说到这里，我想起你们中的一位同学。她学业优异，本可继续深造，却选择和伙伴一同创业。她们想做一件纯粹的事：让服装成为文化的载体。她们办文化秀场，用衣服讲述寻找自我的故事；做私人定制，把个人情感与记忆融入设计；与非遗手艺人携手同行，致力于传承传统文化。毕业前夕，她们带来的文化服装秀，别具韵味、令人耳目一新。在“快扩张”“快变现”成为常态的时代，她们选择了扎根沉淀，慢慢打磨有灵魂的作品。
愿大家在风云变幻的时代里，不随波逐流，不浮躁盲从。守住内心的热爱，从容奔向远方。在变化万千的世界中，活成坚定且独一无二的自己。
三、成事往往需要积淀
在这个处处讲求速度的时代，“慢”是一种难得的力量。如今社会推崇快速成长、快速成功、快速回报，万事都在提速。但纵观世间，真正有价值、能经得起时间考验的事业，从来都离不开日复一日的积淀。文化如此，人亦如此。
这份积淀的力量，让我想起一位校友。她毕业后进入跨国企业，而后转行创业，在职场上快速积累了亮眼的成绩。但在经历了几起几落的挫折之后，她开始重新审视自己的人生节奏。她选择慢下来，回到家乡云南普洱，在自然与咖啡中沉淀自我。正是这段看似“慢下来”的时光，让她得以倾听内心的声音，积蓄创造的能量，最终创立了疗愈咖啡品牌。她说：“这个时代最奢侈的，不是买车买房买包，是买回‘无用时光’——去看雨看云，不是浪费时间，而是与自我相处的蓄力。”
从跨国企业到创业，从高速运转到回归故乡，从沉淀自我到创立品牌——她的人生轨迹告诉我们：所谓成就，从不是一蹴而就的偶然，而是漫长积淀后的水到渠成。那杯咖啡里，沉淀的是她走过的路、读过的书、遇过的人，是她对生命的理解。正是这些不可见的积淀，成就了今日可见的品牌与事业。
未来你们会踏上不同的人生道路，有人探索科学前沿，有人深耕产业领域，有人开启全新事业。不论作何选择，都希望你们具有执着所爱、反复打磨、越挫越勇的底气。请记住，所有长久的成就，都源于清醒的自我认知和笃定的人生追求。
四、从珠海出发，连接世界
同学们，真正的国际化，不只是走访不同国家，而是学会在多元文明之间搭建桥梁、建立连接。回望办学之路，许嘉璐主席与吴清辉校长作为学校创校前辈，高瞻远瞩地确立了国际化办学的核心理念，为学校发展建立了兼容并蓄、开放融通的格局。继往开来，汤涛校长拓宽国际合作版图，大力引进人才，推动学校在国际交流、学术科研等领域迈上新台阶，让国际化的办学特色愈发彰显。
过去几年，北师港浸大相继设立波士顿中心、伦敦中心，悉尼中心也在筹建之中。从珠海到波士顿，从珠海到伦敦，这不仅是地理范围的延伸，更承载着学校一贯的理念：知识应突破地域与文化的边界。伦敦中心成立的时候，我曾说：中心的成立是要搭建一座桥梁，一座连接东西方的桥梁。“连接”不仅是中心的使命，也是学校的基因。二十一年前，北京师范大学与香港浸会大学跨越地域与教育体制的合作，成就了今天的北师港浸大。
今天毕业的你们，是这座桥梁最好的见证者，更是未来的建设者。不论日后身处世界哪个角落，愿你们做文明的沟通者，在差异中寻求共识，在纷繁中创造价值。这也正是我们北师港浸大学子独有的担当与价值。
五、未来的故事，你和母校一起书写
亲爱的同学们，从今天起，你们迎来一个全新的身份——北师港浸大校友。去年，学校走过了二十载春秋。二十年，是一所大学成长的重要里程碑，更是迈向新征程的全新起点。
时代不停更迭，一所大学真正的影响力，最终都体现在她培养出的每一位学子身上。今日扬帆远行的你们，将见证母校下一个二十年的发展；而母校未来的篇章，也将由你们每一个人的人生故事共同谱写。从这层意义来说，你们不仅是毕业生，更是母校未来的建设者、文化的传播者与永远的同行人。
最后，我想把那位校友的一句话送给大家：“当世界用‘更新、流量’迅速洗牌淘汰一切，请你在内心留一座古老的殿堂——那里钟声很慢，却敲得响一辈子。”

President Chen Zhi's Address at the 18th Graduation Ceremony
Dear students, faculty, parents, and honored guests,
Welcome to the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026.
As I stand before you today, I am reminded of the journey you have taken over the past four years. You arrived on campus as freshmen, eager yet uncertain. Today, you leave as graduates—more knowledgeable, more confident, more resilient—carrying with you not only what you have learned, but the values and sense of purpose that will guide you through the opportunities and challenges ahead.
First, on behalf of BNBU, please allow me to extend my warmest congratulations to the Class of 2026. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to your parents, who have accompanied you quietly and cared for you devotedly; to your teachers, who have guided you with dedication; and to all the friends who have supported you along the way.
As we gather at this moment of farewell, I would like to share a few thoughts from the heart.
One: Graduation is not an end, but a beginning.
Some may see a university degree as the culmination of education. I see it as the opening of a new chapter. Over the past four years, you have gained knowledge, sharpened your thinking, learned to collaborate, and grown through adversity. Yet beyond these gates, you will face questions far more complex than any exam—questions without predetermined answers.
Remember, the unknown is not a sign of failure, but the beginning of growth. What BNBU has given you is not a manual of ready-made solutions, but the courage to face difficulty and the capacity to solve problems. The moment you step off this campus, life's true tests begin. I am confident that, shaped by these four years, you will meet them with composure and write your own remarkable story.
Two: In an age of uncertainty, be certain of who you are.
We live in an era of relentless change. Artificial intelligence reshapes industries overnight. Career paths shift and dissolve. It is natural to feel uncertain. But let me ask you: when algorithms tell you what is trending, when data predicts what is profitable, will you still have the conviction to choose what you truly love?
Algorithms may show you what is popular, but they cannot define your future. Technology may speed up tasks, but it cannot choose your direction. What sustains us is not chasing trends, but holding fast to passion, principle, and purpose.
I am reminded of one of your classmates. She had excellent academic prospects, yet chose a different path—starting a business with her partners. They wanted to do something pure: to make clothing a vessel of culture. They staged fashion shows that told stories of self-discovery. They created bespoke designs that wove personal memory into every thread. They worked alongside traditional artisans, committed to preserving heritage through craft. Their graduation show was a testament to this vision—distinctive, memorable, alive. While the world rushes toward rapid expansion and quick returns, they choose patience, rootedness, and the slow work of making something with soul.
In a world of constant change, do not drift with the current. Hold to what you love. Move forward with confidence. Become someone steadfast, distinctive, and truly your own.
Three: Lasting achievement requires the patience to grow.
Our age worships speed. We are urged to grow fast, succeed fast, and profit fast. But what endures is rarely built overnight. Culture is formed through accumulation. So are people.
This truth reminds me of one of our alumnae. After graduation, she joined a multinational corporation, then ventured into entrepreneurship, building a career of visible success. Yet as her achievements multiplied, she began to question whether a life driven entirely by speed and efficiency left room for deeper meaning. She chose to slow down. She returned to her hometown of Pu'er in Yunnan. Surrounded by nature, drawn to coffee, she found the stillness to listen inward and gather creative energy. That period of apparent slowing became the foundation for something new. She founded a healing coffee brand in her hometown devoted to mindful living.
In her words: "The greatest luxury of our time is not buying a car, a house, or a bag. It is buying back 'unproductive time'—time to watch the rain, to gaze at clouds. This is not a waste. This is how we recharge by being with ourselves."
From corporate success to her own venture, from relentless acceleration to conscious return, from self-reflection to building a brand—her journey illustrates a profound truth: achievement is rarely sudden fortune. It is the outcome of years of learning, experience, and quiet accumulation. In every cup of her coffee are the places she traveled, the books she read, the people she met, the insights she gained, and the authenticity with which she lived. It was these invisible deposits that made the visible brand possible.
In the years ahead, you will follow diverse paths. Some will push scientific frontiers. Some will advance industries. Some will create new ventures. Whatever you choose, may you have the conviction to stay committed, the patience to refine your craft, and the resilience to grow through setbacks. Remember, enduring achievement begins with knowing yourself and holding fast to purpose.
Four: From Zhuhai, connect with the world.
True internationalization is not merely visiting countries. It is learning to build bridges between civilizations. Our founding leaders, Chairman Xu Jialu and President Ng Ching Fai, established with foresight the principle of international education, creating a culture of inclusiveness and openness. President Tang Tao has expanded this vision, strengthening global partnerships and advancing the University to new heights.
In recent years, BNBU has established centers in Boston and London; Sydney is next. From Zhuhai to Boston, from Zhuhai to London—this is not merely geographic expansion. It embodies our enduring belief that knowledge transcends boundaries, and that your future must not be limited by where you begin. When the London Center opened, I said its purpose was to build a bridge between East and West. "Connection" is not just that center's mission; it is BNBU's DNA. Twenty-one years ago, Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University crossed regions and systems to create this partnership. You are the inheritors of that vision.
You are witnesses to this bridge. More importantly, you are its future builders. Wherever you go, become connectors—finding common ground amid difference, creating value amid complexity. This is the distinctive calling of every BNBU graduate.
Five: The future is yours to write with BNBU.
From today, you bear a new identity: BNBU alumni. Last year, we marked our twentieth anniversary—a milestone of growth, and a threshold to greater possibilities. As you venture outward, you will carry BNBU forward. Your courage, your choices, your achievements will become part of our continuing story. You are not merely graduates leaving campus today. You are BNBU's future builders, the ambassadors of its spirit, and lifelong companions on its journey ahead.
To close, I leave you with the words of that alumna: "When the world renews itself endlessly, when visibility becomes the measure of all things, preserve within yourself an ancient sanctuary. There, the bells toll slowly, yet their sound reaches far and accompanies a lifetime."
I wish every member of the Class of 2026 a bright future, a heart guided by purpose, and a life of meaningful achievement.
