The initial offering of the 2018-2019 Teaching and Learning Workshop Series will review and consolidate the core principles of OBTL/CRA and introduce primary features of constructive alignment. Participants will then reflect on the variety of TLAs they can employ in their courses. Options for incorporation of individual formative assessment tasks will be presented and discussed. Training will be provided on documenting students’ performance on formative assessment tasks using UIC’s iSpace learning management system (LMS). All participants are invited to consider their own pedagogical practices and share their reflections with other workshop participants in both small group and online settings.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
1) Distinguish formative vs. summative assessment;
2) Create teaching and learning activities as tasks with accompanying rubrics;
3) Grade formative assessment tasks using an iSpace rubric.
